Sunset Mountains

Not far from Idyllwild, California is a valley between mountain ranges.  That valley reflects light like few I’ve experienced.  The cypress spires catching the tail end of the day’s warm light caught my eye in particular.  First painted en plein air and repainted on a larger scale in my home studio.  I enjoyed the vertical elements in contrast to the horizontal cool colors below the fire in the sky.  Once again, I was reminded of the sacred present moment that inspires me to put paint to canvas.
